Emergency Department

An accident or illness can occur unexpectedly in our lives. Our emergency department is always ready and equipped to provide a rapid response at all levels of emergency management—from assessments through trauma, acute, and critical care 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

We handle most emergencies that occur in our community, and you can rest assured that you or your loved ones will receive professional care by our board-certified emergency medicine physicians and certified emergency nurses. Thanks to our large number of specialists and surgeons, we are able to provide a total level of care within our facilities.

We are proudly partnered with EagleMed, an air medical transport service, whose crews are ready to respond 24/7. EagleMed crews are trained and experienced to provide care for trauma, cardiac, orthopedic, burns and other types of medical emergencies.

The ED is an 11-bed, level III trauma center that provides fast treatment for life’s emergencies. As such, we are able to provide prompt assessment, resuscitation, surgery, intensive care, and stabilization of injured patients and emergency operations. We are involved with prevention efforts and maintain an active outreach program for our referring communities. Continued education of nursing staff, allied health personnel, and the trauma team allows us to provide up-to date and cutting-edge trauma care to all our patients.

Northeastern Health System’s Emergency Department houses state of the art medical equipment to provide superior care for approximately 25,000 emergency patients per year. The ED is also a certified primary stroke center to care for patients in our community experiencing stroke symptoms. Our patient satisfaction ratings are excellent, proved in part by receiving an Emergency Department High Performance Award presented by the Voluntary Hospitals of America (VHA) for short length of stay times and a low rate in patients leaving without being seen, both of which are standards of measure in emergency departments.
